Will My Benefits Cover Therapy?
Many extended health plans in Alberta include mental health coverage up to a yearly amount. What matters is which professionals your plan names. Before you book, check three things:
Which professionals are covered. Many plans list psychologist and registered social worker. Some also list counselling therapist or Canadian Certified Counsellor.
Your yearly maximum, and whether the plan pays a percentage of each session.
Whether you need a doctor's referral. Most plans don't, but some do.
Because we have Registered Provisional Psychologists, Canadian Certified Counsellors and Registered Social Workers on staff, many plans cover at least one of us. Tell us what your plan names and we'll help you find the right match.
Receipts and Direct Billing
You get a receipt after every session with your clinician's name, credential and registration number, so you can submit it to your plan yourself.
Direct billing may be available, depending on your plan and your clinician. Ask when you book and we'll check for you. Our direct billing page explains how it works and what we need from you.

Booking and Cancellations
You book online through Jane, and you can see these same rates there before you confirm. We ask for a card on file to book sessions, but not to book the free consult.
Please give us at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or move a session. For late cancellations, each clinician decides whether to charge the full fee, half, or nothing.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you charge for the first consult?
No. The 15-minute consult is free, and there's no obligation to book after it.
Are online sessions cheaper?
No. They cost the same as in-person sessions, and they're available anywhere in Alberta.
Do I need a doctor's referral?
Not to see us. Some benefit plans ask for one, so check yours.
Is GST charged?
No. Our receipts show the session fee only.
Why does psychology cost more than counselling?
They are different registered professions with different colleges and fee schedules. Psychology is with a Registered Provisional Psychologist, registered with the College of Alberta Psychologists. Counselling is with a Canadian Certified Counsellor or a Registered Social Worker. Your plan may cover one, the other, or both.
Do you offer a sliding scale?
We don't publish one. If cost is the barrier, say so in your consult and we'll talk honestly about your options.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on what you're coming in for. You and your therapist will talk about it early, and you can ask again at any point.
