When Therapy in Your Own Language Helps
People often come to us about:
-
Family expectations, duty, and the pressure of being the one who holds everyone together.
-
Carrying two cultures, or feeling caught between your parents' world and your own.
-
Marriage and relationship strain, including in-law and extended-family dynamics.
-
Anxiety, stress or low mood that feels hard to talk about at home.
-
Grief and loss, including losing someone who lives far away.
-
Big transitions: moving countries, a new role, becoming a parent, or retiring.
-
Wanting a parent or grandparent to have support in the language they are most comfortable in.
Seniors and their families. Counselling in Punjabi or Hindi for older adults facing loneliness, health changes, retirement or the loss of a spouse. Family members are welcome to join a session when that helps.
Grief in your own language. A place to grieve the way you grieve, including losses that happen far from home or that the family finds hard to talk about.
Couples and marriage counselling. Sessions in Punjabi, Hindi or English for couples working through conflict, in-law and family pressure, or growing apart.
HOW IT WORKS
You choose the language for each session, and you can switch between Punjabi, Hindi and English whenever that feels more natural. Nancy listens for the cultural context around what you are carrying, such as family, community, faith and expectation, without assuming what it means for you.
Her work draws on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy and Internal Family Systems (IFS), adapted to you and your pace.
What you share is confidential. Nothing is shared with family members without your consent, except in the limited situations where the law requires it, which Nancy explains in your first session.

What Sessions Look Like
Sessions are 50 minutes, weekly or biweekly, in person at our Kensington office in NW Calgary or online by secure video anywhere in Alberta. 80-minute sessions are available for individuals and couples when you want more room. Start with a free 15-minute consult in the language you prefer: ask questions, describe what is going on, and decide whether it feels like a good fit.
