Who I Work Best With
I work best with people who recognize themselves in some of this:
-
You're carrying grief, trauma, or a sense of loss you haven't had the right space to put down yet.
-
You've been through something that changed how you see yourself — and you're still figuring out who you are on the other side of it.
-
Anxiety or depression has become background noise. You function, but something underneath isn't settled.
-
You've struggled with substances or compulsive patterns and you're ready to look honestly at what's driving them, not just manage the surface.
-
You feel more like yourself outside — in nature, in movement, in open space — than you do in most rooms. Conventional therapy has felt too removed from that.
-
You're in a season of real questioning: about meaning, identity, direction, or who you're becoming.
-
You don't need to arrive with a neat summary of what's wrong. We'll find the thread together.
MY APPROACH
I came to this work through eight years of clinical and frontline experience across wilderness therapy, community health, and Indigenous mental health settings. That background shapes how I sit with people I'm less interested in fixing than in understanding, and I've seen how much can shift when someone finally has the right kind of space to slow down and look clearly at what they're carrying.
Much of my work draws on Internal Family Systems (IFS): the understanding that you're not one fixed version of yourself, but a system of inner parts some protective, some wounded, most doing their best with what they were given. When we get curious about those parts instead of fighting them, movement becomes possible.
I also work with Narrative Therapy, which looks at the stories you've inherited or built about yourself the ones that may be limiting what you believe is possible and helps you examine whether those stories are actually yours. Coherence Therapy goes deeper into the beliefs and emotional logic underneath the patterns you can't seem to change, even when you understand them.
For trauma held in the body, I draw on Somatic Experiencing and EMDR approaches that work at the level where talk therapy alone often can't reach. For clients working with addiction or compulsive patterns, I focus on what the behaviour is protecting and what it would take to no longer need it.
My work with Indigenous clients and communities has grounded me in the importance of cultural context, intergenerational experience, and the ways healing looks different depending on where someone comes from and what they've survived.
Sessions follow your pace. I don't work from a script.

What Sessions Look Like
Sessions are 50 minutes, weekly or biweekly, online across Alberta or in-person in Calgary. The first session is a conversation, unhurried, without a fixed agenda. We talk about what brought you in, what you've already tried, and what you're hoping for. From there, the work is collaborative. I adapt to what's actually useful for you, and we check in regularly on whether it is.
If you're drawn to nature-based or outdoor approaches and want to explore whether walk-and-talk sessions could be a fit, ask about that in the consult.
