Men's Therapy in Calgary | Anger, Burnout, Neurodivergence & Trauma
Specialized counselling for men navigating anger, burnout, ADHD and complex trauma. In-person in NW Calgary. Online across Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
At Pathfinder, we work with men who are good at holding it together until they aren't. The anger that leaks out at home. The burnout that's been quietly building for years. The late ADHD diagnosis that suddenly explains everything. The trauma that talk therapy hasn't touched.
Our practice focuses on four areas where men consistently struggle to find specialized support: anger and emotional regulation, executive burnout, neurodivergence (ADHD and autism), and trauma. This isn't generic therapy. It's targeted, practical work that respects how you think and how you live.
Clarity in the chaos.

Is therapy covered by insurance in Alberta? Most extended health plans in Alberta cover our services, including Sun Life, Canada Life, Manulife, Blue Cross, GreenShield, Equitable Life, and Desjardins. Chanelle Gagne's RSW designation is covered under many plans that don't cover registered psychotherapy. We help confirm your coverage before your first session.
How long does therapy take? Some work is six sessions. Some work is two years. The honest answer is: as long as the problem takes, and not longer. We re-evaluate openly at intervals you can see coming, and we end when ending is the right call. We don't pad sessions or extend treatment unnecessarily.
Do you offer EMDR therapy? Yes. Ryan Filax-Wylie (CCC) is trained in EMDR and uses it primarily for trauma, including complex PTSD, single-incident trauma, and adverse childhood experiences. EMDR is available for individuals in-person at our Calgary office and online across Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.
What is the difference between a CCC and an RSW? A CCC (Canadian Certified Counsellor) is certified by the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) and is eligible under many extended health plans. An RSW (Registered Social Worker) is provincially regulated through Alberta College of Social Workers. Chanelle Gagne holds the RSW designation, which broadens insurance coverage for our clients.
Do you work with couples? Yes. Chanelle Gagne (RSW) specializes in couples counselling using Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Gottman Method principles, and IFS. Couples sessions are 90 minutes at $270. We work with couples navigating recurring conflict, emotional distance, infidelity recovery, and transitions like parenting and major life changes.
Where are you located? Our in-person office is at #205, 2120 Kensington Road NW, Calgary, AB T2N 3R7. We also offer secure online sessions across Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. Parking is available on the street and nearby. The office is accessible by transit.

Is this you?
-
You hold it together at work, then snap at your partner or kids the moment you walk in the door.
-
You're successful on paper and running on fumes. The weekends don't fix it anymore.
-
You and your partner keep having the same fight, with different words, for years.
-
Old experiences still show up as panic, shutdown, or numbness and you've stopped expecting that to change.
-
You finally got the late ADHD diagnosis and now you're trying to figure out what the last twenty years actually were.
If any of that sounds familiar, therapy with the right clinician can give you space to slow down, see the pattern clearly, and change it.

Clarity, Healing & Growth
For the women and families in our clients’ lives.
You’re often the reason he made the call.
If you’re a partner, parent, adult child, or sibling of someone we work with, you already know what most clinics won’t say out loud: men, in particular, often arrive in therapy because the people who love them ran out of room to carry what wasn’t theirs to carry. We don’t take that lightly. Our job is not to fix him in a way that makes your life easier on the surface while leaving the underneath untouched. Our job is to do the actual work, with the anger, the numbing, the over-functioning, the questions he hasn’t let himself ask, so that what changes is real, and so that you’re not the one holding the change together. You don’t need to manage this for him. He has us now.

Why Pathfinder
Therapy works best when it feels honest, collaborative, and built around you, not delivered from a script.
Our team is trauma-informed, person-centred, and culturally aware. We draw from Internal Family Systems (IFS), EMDR, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and we match the approach to you, not the other way around.
Three things we hold to:
-
We move at your pace. No pushing, no script, no rushing past what matters.
-
We use the right tools for the job. Different approaches for different people, blended for fit.
-
We aim for change you can keep. Skills, insight, and patterns you carry forward — not dependence on the therapy room.
